brings Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine back and finally gives him his yellow suit.
  • Jackman is excited to finally don comic-accurate Wolverine suit, teases new side of character in upcoming movie.
  • Jackman was initially unsure about returning as Wolverine, but changed his mind after a long drive.

As well as finally bringing Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Deadpool & Wolverine is also suiting Logan up in his iconic yellow suit. Through the intervention of the Time Variance Authority (TVA), the pair are being dropped in the middle of the MCU and pitted against Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin), the evil twin sister of Charles Xavier. The latest trailer also revealed that the film’s version of Wolverine is a variant of the version fans have seen Jackman play for over a decade. According to the actor, audiences will see a whole new side of the character in the upcoming movie.

Speaking to Empire Magazine, Hugh Jackman described his excitement and relief at finally giving fans Wolverine’s comic accurate suit. Jackman said:

“We almost did it in
The Wolverine
. But from the moment I put it on here, I was like, ‘How did we never do this?’ It looked so right, it felt so right. I was like, ‘That’s him.’”

The actor referenced The Wolverine‘s post-credits scene which saw Logan gifted his iconic yellow suit, although he hasn’t had a chance to wear it on the big screen since. In the interview, Hugh Jackman teased the new side of Wolverine shown in the film, saying:

“There are different sides of Wolverine we haven’t seen before in the movies. It was exciting for me.”

Hugh Jackman Was Advised Against Returning in Deadpool & Wolverine

While the film’s director, Shawn Levy, has assured fans that the film is more than just Deadpool 3, it very nearly was that, as Hugh Jackman said he was unsure of returning to the role after a conversation with Marvel Studios boss, Kevin Feige. Feige told Jackman:

“‘Let me give you a piece of advice, Hugh. Don’t come back’. ‘You had the greatest ending in history with
Logan
. That’s not something we should undo.’”

Hugh Jackman said the perfect remedy for his indecision, and the reason fans get to watch him portray Wolverine one more time, was a nice long drive. Jackman said:

“I was about an hour into the drive. And, that question came into my head: ‘What do I want to do?’ And as soon as I asked the question, I wanted to do
Deadpool & Wolverine
. I just knew it. I drove for another hour. Couldn’t stop thinking about it. And I got out of the car, called Ryan [Reynolds], and said, ‘Ryan, if you’ll have me, I’m in.’”

Here’s One Variant of Wolverine You Won’t See in the Upcoming Deadpool Movie

With Deadpool & Wolverine set to release soon, audiences wonder which variants will debut. Here’s one version of Wolverine that probably won’t.

While Hugh Jackman is definitely reprising the role in Deadpool & Wolverine, there is one popular hero from Deadpool’s world whose MCU future is still uncertain. Josh Brolin’s Cable, who previously appeared in Deadpool 2, is still unconfirmed for Deadpool & Wolverine. In a recent interview with Collider, Brolin was cagey and intentionally ambiguous about whether he is reprising the role in the upcoming film. When asked, ‘Are you in Deadpool 3, and if not, why?’ Brolin simply replied, “No. I don’t know. Because Ryan [Reynolds] doesn’t like me? I don’t know… I don’t know. Maybe.”
