Woman causes internet meltdown by not inviting friend to dinner party because of cat views | UK | News

A woman has divided opinion on the internet after asking if she was right to ban a friend from a dinner party because of their views on cats.

Seeking an answer, the cat owner took to the social media site Reddit to reveal a recent dilemna she faced when she said a friend re-posted a picture she had taken of her pet.

The woman said she had photographed her moggy sitting on a stool next to the kitchen counter as she was preparing a meal in the kitchen.

Explaining what happened next she wrote: “My ‘friend’ Rose reposted it with her own caption, a puke face emoji and ‘You can’t eat everybody house.”

After seeing her friend Rose’s take on her original post, the woman said her friend did have positive personality traits, but that she tended “to avoid one-on-one time with her”.

However, the cat owner continued with her story, revealing that Rose’s choice to re-port her kitchen cat photograph on her own social media had consequences.

She added: “About a month ago I hosted a small get together… to show off some Le Creuset cookware I obtained (getting older is weird). I had a whole little shindig with home prepared food, lots of fun times between pals. I didn’t invite Rose.

“She found out after folks posted on their IG (Instagram) stories and confronted me over it, saying that I was ‘giving high school mean girl vibes’.

“I told her that she has made it clear she doesn’t eat at the homes of people who have cats, so why would I have invited her to a dinner party?”

Pondering the post from the woman on the “Am I The A**hole?” thread on Reddit, several users replied in support of her decision.

One wrote: “Your house, you can invite (or not) any one you want, for any reason (or none at all), but Rose has given you plenty of reasons not to invite her.”

Another person added: “You didn’t invite someone who was not only pretty explicit about not wanting to eat around cats, but inferred that its a vomit inducing offence to do so. Actions meet consequences.”

However, someone else questioned the reason for the friendship with Rose in the first place, writing: “Why are you guys still interacting with each other? Have you known her for a long time or something? Literally why, sounds like non-stop bickering.”
