It took Netflix two very long weeks to drop all 10 episodes of Perfect Match Season 2, and with the final episode, which felt very much like a double feature, just now airing, fans will need to spend the whole weekend picking their jaws up from the floor. In short, the results are not what anyone expected.

The second season started out hot and heavy, with 10 singles showing up to yet another beautiful villa in Mexico, hoping to find their perfect match. Shallow conversations with (and about) everyone were had on the first night, as people were simply trying to get an idea of what they knew of the others and what they wanted to know from them. Eventually, those late-night chats turned into something more, and people started taking their need for a genuine connection more seriously.

Viewers have watched contestants perform wife swaps, completely lie on camera (and then ask the camera crew if they, in fact, did catch certain actions), yell at the person they considered their perfect match, and ultimately fall for the person they chose time and time again. It has truly been a whirlwind, to say the least, but with the final episode of the season, the ultimate “perfect match” has been chosen. The Perfect Matches Expected to Win

Everyone who watches reality TV knows there is going to be quite a bit of drama, but when a dating aspect is thrown into the mix, many viewers cannot help but want certain individuals to win. Throughout Perfect Match Season 2, there were a handful of strong pairs. However, one particular conversation or bad decision was almost always able to break up the “power couples.”

Two Strong Couples Were Destined to Win

By the tenth and final episode, the following couples were still together: Alara Taneri and Stevan Ditter, Tolú Ekundare and Chris Hahn, Kaz Bishop and Micah Lussier, Bryton Constantin and Elys Hutchinson, and Christine Obanor and Nigel Jones. Izzy Zapata and Jessica Vestal decided to call it quits and “unmatch” after a single night together.

Given the history, chemistry, and growth of certain individuals, most fans were betting that either Alara and Stevan or Chris and Tolú were going to win. Alara and Stevan had been together the longest, and while they had been constantly challenged with certain things, they always bounced back stronger than ever. Then, there was the friends-to-lovers situation that grew between Tolú and Chris. Once their passion was out, they were practically on top of one another every second of the day. Both pairs preached the importance of communication, and even when they found themselves on the short end of Nick Lachey’s games, they always felt like they won just by being with one another.

Which Couple Won the Second Season?

As all the pairs and the other unmatched competitors came together for the final night of drama and decision-making, it was hard not to watch the stronger couples to see just how confident they were as tea was spilled and claims were made. For the most part, everyone handled themselves with grace. Dominique Defoe was very quick to give her two cents on certain couples and situations, and even Harry Jowsey stepped in to say his piece about how he felt after things were out in the open. However, when it came time to go to the boardroom, it seemed like not everyone who voted did so with the best intentions.

The Couple With the Least Amount of Screen Time Won

The couple who spent the least amount of time in the house, Christine and Nigel, ended up taking the title of the ultimate perfect match. Plenty of contenders and fans were shocked, but when you step back and look at who gets to vote and how, it makes sense. Think about how many people have issues with one another on the show.

If someone does not like one or both people within a strong couple, they may vote against them just for personal reasons. Nigel and Christine looked completely baffled and elated to hear their names called out, and a few brief clips of their time away together show that they genuinely seemed to have a good time with one another. Some people certainly feel like this contest was rigged or faulty, but that is pretty much the name of the game when it comes to reality dating shows.

Hopes for Future Seasons of Perfect Match

While it seems like Perfect Match will not die off anytime soon, there are a few things that the casting directors should consider with their future seasons. Firstly, everyone loves a bit of scandal when it comes to reality TV, so throwing in exes and showing the parties trying to either work through issues or completely ignore one another is something that should absolutely continue. Joey Sasso and Kariselle Snow were great examples of how two people can have a spicy history with one another and overcome a lot to come out on top. Then there is Harry, who seems to have dated way too many women in the Netflix universe of reality TV. He is certainly one who has to proceed with caution everywhere he goes, as many people are out to get him or expose his horrible secrets.

Fans Want to Decide the Perfect Match

Another consideration would be for audience members to decide who they believe was the perfect match on a tell-all episode after everything is said and done. Obviously, the decision for the perfect match is made many months before the episodes premiere on Netflix. Still, Perfect Match could take a page from the Love is Blind book and bring everyone back together for some closure where the contestants and couples have to talk about certain situations and answer fans’ questions.
