The Night’s Cavalry Set is a complete pitch-black collection of armor pieces in Elden Ring that players can acquire from a Field Boss duo found within the snowy tundra of the Inner Consecrated Snowfield. The outfit’s design is one of the best-looking medium armor sets, especially for those roleplaying as a Greatsword-wielding Dark Knight. While the Night’s Cavalry Set doesn’t feature any unique passive bonuses or special effects like increased damage to certain types of damage, the pieces offer decent protection and the main body piece and helm can be customized in an Elden Ring‘s Site of Grace.
In turn, you can remove the armor’s cape and shawl, and the helm’s plume, respectively, either giving you better aesthetic value or simply making the pieces lighter. During your travels, you will doubtless have encountered the Night’s Cavalry, elite Field Bosses that roam the roads of the Lands Between after nightfall. Likewise, the Night’s Cavalry Set is obtained by defeating these enemies, specifically a Flail and Glaive-wielding duo within the western half of the Mountaintop of the Giants region. However, the challenge comes not from finding or fighting the bosses but from gaining access to the Consecrated Snowfield.

How To Gain Access To The Consecrated Snowfield

Albus is located very early within the Village of the Albinaurics, so you are not required to complete the dungeon-like location.
Once the medallion is complete, return to the lift and enter the Consecrated Snowfield in the western side of the Mountaintops of the Giants. When activating the lift, you will be presented with the option to use the special new medallion instead of the regular path you previously took. After reaching the Inner Consecrated Snowfield Site of Grace, change the time of day to nightfall and then move southwest towards a traveling convoy. This enemy caravan will also spawn during the day and can be looted to acquire the Flowing Curved Sword.
However, two Night’s Cavalry Field Bosses in Elden Ring will only accompany the escort at nighttime. Defeat these two elite mobs to receive the Night’s Cavalry Set and a legendary Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. For reference, all four pieces of the set will drop, including the
To defeat the convoy’s Night’s Cavalry (Flail) and Night’s Cavalry (Glaive), you are recommended to use ranged attacks to lure one away from the group. After taking a single horseman down, it will be much easier to battle the second rider. Furthermore, this boss duo can be cheesed by luring one away far enough from the caravan for it to “deaggro” and return to the carriage. You can then attack it in the back as it slowly returns until it aggros you again. This process will take longer than actively fighting but is, nonetheless, an effective strategy in Elden Ring.
While taking on these bosses, you should be wary of the rest of the escort, who will also try to attack you, either with melee or ranged attacks. It is worth noting that you will be unable to summon any Spirit Ashes for this fight, which means you need to beat them on your own. According to Fextralife‘s database, these Night’s Cavalry bosses are weak against Pierce and Lightning damage, while being resistant against Hemorrhage and Frostbite. As such, weapons like spears or incantations like Lightning Strike deal increased damage to these bosses in Elden Ring.
Even if you are unable to use weapons that deal damage they are weak against, at least avoid using those that they are resistant to, since you will unnecessarily prolong the fight.
Night’s Cavalry Set Stats, Weight, DMG Negation, & Resistances In Elden Ring
The Armor Set Is Particularly Good Against Physical Damage
The Night’s Cavalry set is considered one of the best medium armors in the game. Its enhanced protection alongside the prospect of still being able to use medium roll (with enough Endurance to beat the Equip Load) makes it an attractive choice for players who are not creating full tanks but are looking for the best protection, be they melee fighters or ranged spellcasters. In total, the Night’s Cavalry set weighs 30.5, but this value can be reduced to 29.1 if you alter both the
When it comes to stats, the Night’s Cavalry set is extremely balanced, with well-distributed damage negation across all types of physical damage income, as well as magic – it does, however, exceed in physical damage negation. When it comes to resistances, the attributes it offers are a bit more widespread, but it boasts a huge amount of Robustness, which makes you particularly strong against Hemorrhage and Frostbite (which is why the bosses are resistant to these effects in battle, too). If you are looking to better tolerate bleed damage from Elden Ring invaders, this is a great set to use.
The table below lists all the stats provided by the Night’s Cavalry set, according to information compiled by Fextralife:
Night’s Cavalry Set Stats | |
---|---|
Damage Negation | Resistance |
The only unfortunate aspect of this particular armor set is that it is locked behind dozens of hours of gameplay and is considered a late-game acquisition. This could mean you end up spending less time with it than you wished, as it would’ve been a great set to use throughout the entire campaign. Nevertheless, with the arrival of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, you can now put your recently acquired Night’s Cavalry Set to good use as you explore the Land of Shadow and face the new bosses, like the Blackgaol Knight in Elden Ring.
