Paramount+ is expanding its comedy lineup with Crutch, a new series coming from the popular CBS show The Neighborhood. The show will see Tracy Morgan, best known for his role in 30 Rock, stepping into the shoes of Francois Crutchfield, affectionately called Crutch. The series aims to build on the established fan base of The Neighborhood while transporting viewers to the other side of the country.
In Crutch, viewers will meet Morgan’s Crutch, a straightforward, widowed father from Harlem. According to THR, the plot thickens as his adult son and daughter, along with their children, make a return to his home, setting the stage for a mix of humor and family dynamics. This character setup promises to explore the trials and tribulations of multi-generational living under one roof, a theme that appeals to many.
The connection to The Neighborhood is strengthened through Crutch’s familial ties to Calvin Butler, played by Cedric The Entertainer, who also serves as one of the executive producers of the new series. Cedric expressed his excitement about the project, pointing out the comedic potential of Morgan’s character and the family resemblance in their roles. The comedian teased:
