Following all manner of fan art and even some images from filming, we finally have our first official look at The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia in season 4 of The Witcher. The first image of the actor as the beloved monster hunter comes courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, with Hemsworth sporting the long, white hair and golden, catlike eyes that are so synonymous with the character.

The Witcher showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has also released a statement alongside the first image from season 4, revealing that they have been working on Hemsworth’s “look” for some time, and praising Hemsworth for his passion for the role.

“His look has been in development for over a year, so it’s thrilling to finally share an official sneak peek of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia. Cast and crew alike have been struck by the passion, energy, and embodiment Liam has brought to the character from Day 1 — scruffy beard, iconic scar, and all! We’re having so much fun filming season 4 and are excited to welcome fans along on this journey with us.”

Henry Cavill Ended His Time on The Witcher in Last Year’s Season 3

A huge sigh of disappointment let out when original The Witcher lead Henry Cavill revealed that he would be walking away from the Netflix series. In a statement released at the time, Cavill revealed that “the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf,” with the actor enthusiastic “to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.”

In his own statement, Hemsworth heaped praise on Cavill’s portrayal, and expressed his excitement over joining the fantasy series.

“As a Witcher fan, I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honored that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure. Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world.”

The Witcher Star Reveals Liam Hemsworth Casting Doubts, but Says ‘Attack-y’ Fans Need to Give Him a Chance

Liam Hemsworth has not begun his time as The Witcher yet, and one star is urging fans to bear that in mind after overcoming her own recast doubts.

Netflix has since revealed that The Witcherseason 5 will be the show’s last, with the streaming giant saying, “We’re heading back to The Continent. The Witcher Season 4 is officially in production. And Season 5 is coming to bring this epic series to a fitting conclusion.”
