The Incredibles Join Airbnb Icons List with Edna Mode’s House

Ever wanted to stay in the house of a superhero? How about an acclaimed fashion designer catering to superpowered clientele? What if that fashion designer’s name was Edna Mode from The Incredibles? Mode’s iconic mansion from Pixar’s The Incredibles is joining AirBnB for customers to stay in. The mansion is one of the most iconic locations from the movie, as Edna Mode (Brad Bird) walks the family through various rooms showcasing her designs as they suit up to battle Syndrome (Jason Lee).

ComicBook.com were given exclusive access to AirBnB’s recreation of Mode’s mansion and described it as “Nothing Short of Super”. As part of their Icons range, the holiday rentals company has painstakingly recreated Mode’s mansion, and created a complete experience for fans wealthy enough to stay there. Upon arrival, guests will be greeted by Mode herself through the security camera that is too tall for her, as well as a litany of her personal assistants.

As well as a faithful recreation of Mode’s mansion, fitted with an extravagant water feature in the front garden and beautiful modern architecture, the grounds also hide several Pixar balls for fans to find. In the living area, guests can treat themselves to Jack Jack’s favorite cookies and cereals, before taking a test to determine their superpowers and abilities. The tour then included Edna Mode’s dressing room, adorned with beautiful costumes, alongside various accessories to try on. Then the pièce de résistance, Edna’s office, where she designs all her superhero costumes. Guests can have their measurements taken before designing their very own superhero costumes. Unfortunately, they weren’t allowed to take their designs home, but the office space was filled with iconic costumes from the movies, including Mr. Incredible’s and Frozone’s.

Edna Mode’s mansion is one of many iconic locations from film and TV that AirBnB have recreated for customers to experience. In May this year, the company announced the latest line-up of Icons locations, and it included some major animated locations. For guests looking for the full superhero experience, how about the Charles Xavier’s Institute for Higher Learning from X-Men ’97? If you’re looking for a calmer stay, how about Carl’s tranquil house from Up – be warned, the building is hoisted on a crane and can be lifted in the air during your stay. Or if you’re looking for an emotional reprieve, why not stay with all the emotions in Riley’s emotional control room from Inside Out 2.

Perhaps the most amazing part about AirBnB’s Icons range, is that it actually started as a joke. During the line-up’s announcement, AirBnB CEO Brian Chesky divulged how the idea came to be, saying it all started when he was shopping in IKEA looking at the bedroom displays.

“One day we had to go to Ikea to go furniture shopping, and we were walking past this bedroom showroom, and we thought to ourselves, ‘wouldn’t it be kind of funny if we put that on Airbnb?’ It captured people’s imagination. And we started realizing, what if this wasn’t just a one-off program?”
