Perdomo played the central role of Andre Anderson, and his death came just as filming on Season 2 of The Boys’ spin-off was about to begin. According to Kripke, it then became about reworking the new season to honor his character in amongst the emotional challenges being faced by those who know him. Kripke told Entertainment Weekly:

“I really feel for the actors because they were such a family. I know it’s really hard on a lot of them. It’s been challenging, to say the least. We were a week away from shooting when Chance passed away tragically. So we had to almost rethink everything, and in just a matter of weeks. But what I tell people when they say ‘wow, that’s really crazy or difficult’ [is] that pales in comparison to what his friends and loved ones are going through. It’s the least we could do.”

While there have been no exact details given on how the second season of Gen V will write the character of Andre out of the story, a statement released by the show’s producers categorically ruled out recasting the role. It is clear that Season 2 was going to once again feature Perdomo in a prominent role, and working out how to continue the story without one of the lead stars is something that no production ever really prepares for.

The Boys will return to Prime Video this summer, and Eric Kripke has broken down what to expect from the newsest Supes in town.

The first season of Gen V ended on a cliffhanger, with Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), Andre, and their friends locked away after thwarting a plan to unleash chaos on the campus. How the story is resolved is something that is currently yet to be revealed. The cast of Gen V previously expressed their sadness over the passing of Perdomo, and Kripke also echoed the sentiments. He said:

“The pain and the hardship really is with the people who loved him. My heart goes out to them. It’s all so tragic and horrible, so if we can just honor him and present his character as the hero that he was, then that’s a small token for what his loved ones are experiencing right now.”

As Gen V continues filming on its second season, fans are currently preparing to find out how The Boys deals with the revelations of the spin-off’s finale. The trailer for Season 4 has already shown Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) revealing what he knows about the existence of the deadly virus, and setting up another clash between him and Homelander (Antony Starr).
