One of the most anticipated horror movies of the year just bumped up its release date by two weeks, meaning Terrifier 3 will now premiere in theaters on October 11, 2024, rather than October 25. Directed by Damien Leone, the slasher flick wrapped filming in mid-April, and promises to “up the ante” according to star Chris Jericho, who makes his second appearance in the franchise. David Howard Thornton will reprise his role as Art the Clown, and be joined by regulars Lauren LaVera, and Samantha Scaffidi.

As per Variety, the release date bump for Terrifier 3 comes at the hands of Ciniverse and Bloody Disgusting. In a statement released by Phil Falcone, the film’s producer, he says that the third installment in the franchise will deliver “everything fans want, and more.” Check out his comments below.

“We’re so excited to bring the next Terrifier to theaters this fall just in time for the Halloween season. Terrifier 3 will deliver everything the fans expect and more, with Art the Clown taking things to the next level. We can’t thank our fans enough for their support and for making us believe we’ve made something truly special.”

Though it will be released in time for Halloween, Terrifier 3 is set at Christmas this time around, which is a marked departure from the previous two installments. Joining the cast as Santa Claus will be horror veteran Daniel Roebuck, who has collaborated with Rob Zombie in the past on several movies, and appeared in such films as Final Destination, and the cult-favorite, Bubba Ho-Tep.

Art the Clown Will Slay October Once Again

Released in 2016, Terrifier became a sleeper hit among horror fans, but it wasn’t until the release of Terrifier 2 in 2022 that the franchise really took hold. Known for its practical effects and over-the-top gore, the film grossed $15 million dollars at the global box office against a budget of $250,000, and currently holds an 86% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Following its success, the budget for the third film was increased exponentially to $2 million, giving director Damien Leone even more room to work with when it comes to Art the Clown’s creative kills.

Brad Miska, vice president of Bloody Disgusting at Cineverse, called Terrifier 2 a “generational horror film,” and says that when it comes to Terrifier 3, it’s a movie that won’t only deliver on all that it promises, but it will also “shock the hell out of audiences.” Check out his statement below.

“I knew the second I saw Terrifier 2 that it would be a generational horror film and was ecstatic when horror fans showed up to experience the movie in theaters, making it one of the biggest indie horror successes of all time. With Terrifier 3, Damien Leone and Phil Falcone have handcrafted a theatrical experience like no other that will shock the hell out of audiences this fall. Art the Clown will slay October once again.”

Terrifier 3: Why a Christmas Setting Is Perfect for the Horror Franchise

Art the Clown was tired of slim pickings on Halloween, so he figured Christmas might be a richer honey pot.

Following its theatrical run, fans can expect to see Terrifier 3 make its way to streaming on a number of platforms, including Ciniverse’s own horror streaming service, Screambox.

Terrifier 2
are both available to stream on Peacock.
