Suits Revival Movie Gets Exciting Update From Star Patrick Adams

The upside to Netflix is that sometimes a show can be rediscovered and gain a completely new following. That was the case with Suits, a show that had a successful nine-season run on the USA Network but saw a remarkable resurgence once it was added to Netflix (and to a lesser extent Peacock). The newfound popularity of the show led to NBCUniversal developing a spin-off series called Suits: L.A., which is in contention for a spot on NBC’s network schedule, and now Patrick Adams, who starred on Suits as Mike Ross for seven seasons, says there is interest in a reunion movie for the series’ original cast.

During a retrospective for the series at ATX, Adams was joined by his former fellow cast mates Sarah Rafferty, Amanda Schull, Dulé Hill, and Abigail Spencer, and he expressed that series creator Aaron Korsh has discussed the possibility of making a reunion movie. Adams said:

“It’s definitely something [creator Aaron Korsh] is interested in doing, trying to get the band back together. It’s gonna depend on a million things if that can happen, but it’s possible.”

The cast that was in attendance also seemed to be down for a potential reunion movie. Adams was a definite yes and that sentiment was echoed by his co-star Hill, who played Alex Williams from seasons 7-9. Hill said, “I’ll say as a fan of USA shows becoming films, I would definitely like to be doing another one.” The actor is no stranger to his USA shows turning into films after their initial run, as he starred in a movie based on his hit series Psych in 2017.

Suits became a true streaming hit during the summer of 2023. The show was made available on both Netflix and Peacock and its popularity went through the roof, topping the Nielsen ratings charts for a record-breaking 12 straight weeks. In the process, the series also became Netflix’s “most-watched acquired series in a single week.” At the height of its resurgence on Netflix, the show was watched for a total of 57.7 billion minutes, which easily made it the most streamed series of 2023.

The series’ eventual claim to fame, and why some believe it saw huge interest after its debut on streaming, is that Meghan Markle, who of course went on to marry Prince Harry, starred on the show for seven seasons as senior paralegal Rachel Elizabeth Zane.
