Stranger Things Star Teases How the Final Season Will Be Different

Stranger Things Star Teases How the Final Season Will Be Different

Summary

  • Stranger Things
Season 5 will be “very connected” to Season 4 and may not follow the same release strategy.
  • Maya Hawke reveals
    Stranger Things
‘ final season as “eight mini-movies.”
  • Season 5 will feature the entire cast together, with Linda Hamilton joining the roster.

Maya Hawke, best known for giving life to Robin in Stranger Things, has revealed how the final season will differ from its predecessors and says that the episodes for season 5 are essentially “eight mini-movies.” Per the Podcrushed podcast, Hawke revealed that season 5 will be “very connected” to season 4. Continuing, she explained that the fourth series was cut into two parts because the narrative required it (although many speculate that it was a Netflix requirement), teasing that season 5 won’t exactly go for the same release strategy. So far, Netflix hasn’t commented on how the episodes will be released. Will they be released all at once? One per week? Two parts? It’s still early, but considering Stranger Things is their most important show to date, they will probably think of something in order to capitalize on the series finale.

“Season 4 and season 5 are very connected. Season 4 had a part I and part II because they separated them, so the last two episodes came out at a different time, which is unusual for streaming…But this is its own season. It is a continuation, but it’s the finale. And it has been a long time since last season.”

In terms of the epic scope of the final season, the show isn’t a stranger to long episodes, as the last season concluded with a monstrous 144-minute episode that equaled the running time of an epic feature film. Season 4 had nine episodes, and none of them went under 64 minutes, so it was a blast for fans of the ’80s-based show who always want more and more time with their favorite characters.

According to Hawke, season 5 will go above and beyond in terms of episode duration and release. Hawke shared some details about Stranger Things‘ final season, saying…

“We’re making, basically, eight movies.”

Stranger Things Season 5: What We Know So Far

Season 4 of Stranger Things saw its cast fighting two of the most terrifying monsters in the show so far as they faced The Upside Down’s telepathic mastermind Vecna on one hand and the Soviets on the other. Eventually, they would gather in Hawkins and celebrate their reunion, but the last season also brought some tragedies to the table. Fan-favorite Eddie Munson was tragically killed after shredding that Master of Puppets solo in the realm with pterodactyl-like bats, and Max lies unconscious in a hospital bed after making a huge sacrifice for her friends. Eleven was able to “contact” her in the beyond, so perhaps we’ll see more of her. But Eddie? That one we’ll never forget about.

The final series will incorporate Linda Hamilton into the cast, but who she will play remains to be seen. A cast photo revealed there could be a cameo in the works, but no other prominent new characters are expected to feature. Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike in the show, revealed early on that season 5 will differ from the rest in regards to the different storylines taking place apart. It appears that this time, all the characters will be together all the time. How exactly they will manage remains to be seen, as they will probably need a school bus to transport them from one setting to another. Jamie Campbell Bower, aka Vecna/Henry Creel, has also gone on record saying the last season is “bigger and completely insane.”

Stranger Things
Season 5 is set to be released sometime in 2025, but in the meantime, you can binge the previous four seasons on Netflix.
