Ryan Gosling is dipping his toes into the horror-comedy genre by producing the upcoming zombie project for Amazon MGM Studios titled I Used to Eat Brains, Now I Eat Kale. Gosling’s most recent producing credits include The Fall Guy, Lost River, and the upcoming science fiction film, Project Hail Mary, based on the novel by Andy Weir. I Used to Eat Brains, Now I Eat Kale will fall under his newly minted General Admission label, which he started with Jessie Henderson earlier this year.

As per Deadline, I Used to Eat Brains, Now I Eat Kale is based on a 45-page unpublished short story written by twin brothers Adam and Daniel Cooper. They will pen the screenplay for the feature, and while plot details remain under wraps for now, the film is said to be “set in a post-apocalyptic world where zombies struggle to regenerate.” While it was reported earlier in the week that Gosling was also attached to star in the project, Deadline says that isn’t the case, and that casting decisions have yet to be made. As of now, a director has also not been chosen to helm the project.

This Is the First of Many Projects Between Ryan Gosling and Amazon MGM Studios

While Ryan Gosling is typically used to being on the lens side of the camera, I Used to Eat Brains, Now I Eat Kale marks an exciting new venture for the 43-year-old star. Earlier this year, he partnered with Apple Original Films executive Jessie Henderson to start General Admission, his own production label. The duo signed a three-year first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios, giving them first crack at narrative films for theatrical and streaming releases, some of which Gosling is expected to star in.

In a statement released at the time of the announcement by Courtenay Valenti, Amazon MGM Studios Head of Film, Streaming and Theatrical, she commented that “We are so thrilled that Ryan Gosling and Jessie Henderson will make Amazon MGM Studios the home of their new company, General Admission.”
