Reacher star Alan Ritchson has stated once again his desire to play Batman in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU franchise. The actor, who has seen his star rise quickly thanks to his performance as Jack Reacher in the hugely popular Prime Video series, made the declaration while speaking with THR, shouting from the rooftops, “’I want to be Bruce Wayne!’”
“I’m getting this question, would I rather play Batman or Joker – Joaquin Phoenix crushed it, there’s no following that. I would love to play Batman, there, I said it! Okay I’ll shout it from the rooftops, ‘I want to be Bruce Wayne!’”
The Reacher star then laid out exactly why he wants to play The Dark Knight so much, saying he admires the superhero’s intelligence…as well as his cool car and gadgets.
“Here’s the thing about Batman – you know what his superpower is? Intelligence: The dude is the smartest superhero there is. He’s inventive and he’s got all the gadgets stuff, but he’s super smart. I want to be that guy and also to have like a cave with hypercars, sports cars, and awesome motorcycles.”
Rumors that Ritchson is being courted for the DCU’s Batman have been circulating for a while now, with the actor having previous experience with the world of DC thanks to roles in both The WB and The CW series, Smallville, and the HBO Max series Titans. Details of the DCU Batman movie, The Brave and the Bold, remain largely under wraps for now, but we do know that it will be helmed by The Flash director Andy Muschietti.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Ritchson has responded with huge positivity to the idea of playing Batman, saying he would “love” to play the DC icon and comparing the character to Jack Reacher.
“You know, [Batman without a cape] is a great analogy, actually. But I mean, Batman has got like a cave, and Reacher doesn’t even have a house. He’s got a toothbrush. So, I think Batman has got cool stuff. Dude is loaded and has caves, penthouses, and spotlights that call him. Batman’s cooler.”
Reacher Season 3 Will See the Avenging Nomad Go Undercover

The cast of Reacher season 3 was recently announced, with The Wolverine and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows star Brian Tee set to play a “physically imposing and intimidating” character named Quinn, who is a lieutenant colonel “whom Reacher investigated years ago.” The rest of the supporting cast includes Johnny Berchtold (Dog Gone, The Passenger), Anthony Michael Hall (The Breakfast Club, Halloween Kills), Roberto Montesinos (Father Stu, The Zombie Farm), Daniel David Stewart (Catch 22, For All Mankind), and Maria Sten as Frances Neagley.
