Lil Nas X Reveals Where He First Heard the Axel F theme…and It May Surprise You

While Lil Nas X has now put his stamp on the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, the musician has revealed the unexpected TV show that first introduced him to the theme tune…Family Guy. In a conversation with Netflix, he said…

“It’s Peter Griffin from Family Guy. He was doing the hum to it and I was like, ‘Wait, that was actually a good little melody from Family Guy.’ And then I saw the movie years later.”

Eddie Murphy then came to his defense, pointing out that the rapper “wasn’t even born in 1984. … You weren’t even thought about yet. You weren’t even a little glint in your dad’s eye yet in 1984.” Lil Nas X then reflected on making the new theme song for Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, describing the experience as “actually kind of insane.”

“I was a bit emotional. And I know my dad and family probably went the most insane about me doing it because it’s so close to them.”
