Met Police officer charged with sexually assaulting two female officers due in court | UK | News

A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been charged with sexually assaulting two female colleagues.

PC Saif Iqbal, who is based within the forces’s North West Command Unit, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, June 26, when he will be charged with seven counts of sexual assault.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “The charges relate to two women and took place between October 2020 and November 2021 while the officer was both on and off duty. Both women are police officers.”

PC Iqbal is currently suspended from duty.

He is the latest officer from the force to face criminal or misconduct proceedings in connection with sexual offences after Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley pledged a clean up of the force in the wake of the Wayne Counzens scandal.

Couzens was jailed for life with a whole life term in September 2021 after he admitted the kidnap, rape and murder of Sarah Everad in March the same year while a serving officer with the force.
