While there are currently no plans for the Oscar-winning actor to sign up to either the MCU or DCU in the foreseeable future, the super-realistic images also tap into imagining what DiCaprio’s “lost” Spider-Man could have looked like in James Cameron’s canceled 90’s movie.

Although AI art is a big topic for debate, the use of technology to put together interesting “what if” scenarios featuring lost concepts and franchise fan-castings. This has been seen yet again in the art shared by Instagram user Esheffects, which conjures up very plausible appearances by both young and old DiCaprio in guises from Batman, to Iron Man, and even The Fantastic Four’s Human Torch. You can check out the collection below.

Among the many “lost” superhero projects that have fallen by the wayside, James Cameron’s canceled foray into the world of Spider-Man with Leonardo DiCaprio starring as Peter Parker is one that could have changed the face of the franchise. The art interestingly shows what a younger DiCaprio could have looked like as Peter Parker, putting him in the same age range as Tom Holland’s current version of Spider-Man, and also how an older version of the star would look in a symbiote/Venom inspired suit.

Leonardo DiCaprio Does Not Intend to Join a Superhero Franchise

Although Leonardo DiCaprio could still potentially join the MCU, with several prominent roles set to be cast in the coming years, the actor has seemingly made his stance on the world of superheroes very clear. Recently, during the press tour for Dune: Part Two, Timothée Chalamet revealed that DiCaprio gave him some advice about potentially making a move into the world of comic book movies. Chalamet said:

“Well, Leonardo DiCaprio said to me, ‘No superhero movies, no hard drugs.’ Which I thought was very good. I follow them both! But the movie that made me want to act is a superhero movie, ‘The Dark Knight.’ If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it.”

DiCaprio has obviously been hugely successful in his chosen area, with roles in movies like Inception, The Revenant, and Killers of the Flower Moon. However, as a younger star, the actor appeared in several genre movies, and at one point could have joined one of the biggest franchises in the world: Star Wars. In a recent interview, Hayden Christensen revealed that he originally believed that he would be pipped to his iconic role by DiCaprio. He previously revealed:

“I had heard that they’d met with Leonardo and a bunch of other actors. That just confirmed my thought that the role would go to another actor. Through the entire auditioning process I had told myself, from day one, that I wasn’t going to get the part. It just wasn’t a possibility. And I think that probably helped me a lot, because it just freed me up in a lot of ways. And so it really came as a surprise to me when I got the part.”

The Dark Knight Rises came very close to getting Leonardo DiCaprio as The Riddler based on a Warner Bros. boss’ suggestion.

Will DiCaprio have a change of heart and decide that he could have a future in a superhero franchise? It is hard to say, but for now, it looks like the MCU and DCU will just have to cope without his input.
