Kalki 2898 AD Reddit Theory Claims Deepika Padukone Is Kalki’s Mother

Bollywood star Deepika Padukone is playing a crucial role in the upcoming mythological sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD. While she is the film’s leading lady, her role has been a mystery to the viewers. After the trailer was recently released, discussions about Deepika’s potential role and character arc are rife on the internet. Many Reddit users have claimed their theories about the plot of Kalki 2898 AD. They also debate whether Deepika Padukone will play Padma or Kalki’s mother in the movie.

For the unversed, Kalki 2898 AD is directed by Nag Ashwin. The director has revealed how the film begins in Mahabharat and ends in 2898 AD. Moreover, it is based on the Hindu belief of Kali Yug. It stars Prabhas as Bhairava and Amitabh Bachchan as the immortal Ashwatthama. Disha Patani also has a supporting role in the film, while Kamal Haasan is playing the lead antagonist.

Is Deepika Padukone’s Kalki’s mother or Padma in Kalki 2898 AD?

A Reddit thread has claimed that Deepika Padukone is playing Kalki’s mother in Kalki 2898 AD. The user’s argument reads, “Deepika is playing the role of Sumati(Bhagwan Kalki’s mother in the epics), which is further supported by the theory that Ashwatthama clearly says thay she is carrying a Divine child.” The user further supported the claim and wrote, “Also when Bhairava receives the bounty notification, the name of Deepika is SUM-80, which is a direct play on the name Sumati.” As per the user, Deepika Padukone’s character is pregnant due to Project K, which can be either Project Kali or Project Kalki. However, they both are to support Kali and his rule.

However, other Reddit users have contradicted this theory with their arguments. One of them mentioned that the official poster of Kalki 2898 AD has revealed Deepika’s name is Padma. They further wrote, “Do you guys not understand how trailers are cut? They will splice together different scenes. How do you know for sure the bounty screen means Deepika?”

The first user also shared a theory about Prabhas’ character, Bhairava. “Bhairava is not Kalki (for sure) and he may be the mentor type figure to Kalki. Every avatar of Bhagwan Vishnu has a Rudra ansh (Shiva representation) connection.”
