There is no doubt that a large list of actors, especially those young people who are beginning to take off with their careers, would love to have the great opportunity to join a franchise as successful as the one led by Kevin Feige, to finish establishing themselves as future Hollywood stars. Quinn had that opportunity, although not on the big screen, but in one of Netflix’s most successful shows. He played the now legendary Eddie Munson in the fourth season of Stranger Things, a character who dies heroically in the finale in the middle of the battle to save Hawkins from the Upside Down and Jamie Campbell Bower’s Vecna.

However, it seems that the British actor tried to be part of the MCU even before becoming Eddie, and no less than to bring Peter Parker to life. This was revealed in an interview Quinn did with the cast of Stranger Things for BuzzFeed to promote the last entry, which has come to light once again now that he has officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Johnny Storm.

At a recent Comic-Con held in Belgium, the actor spoke about joining the franchise and how excited he feels about this new opportunity:

“It’s mad. I’m really excited! I still can’t believe it. We have a great gang. When I spoke to Matt, the director, he had a brilliant vision for this, and the gang that we have, it was an easy decision. I definitely wanted to be a part of it.”

The cast of Fantastic Four also includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, and the recently announced Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal/Silver Surfer.

The Human Torch may not be the most popular character in the world of Marvel Comics, but Joseph Quinn will have a big challenge ahead of him playing Johnny Storm, especially because of the two great actors who previously gave life to him. Although the previous Fantastic Four films were not as successful or as well received as the Marvel Studios productions, the two stars who were chosen to play Johnny have become two of the most coveted actors in Hollywood.

Chris Evans was in charge of giving life to a charismatic and funny Johnny Storm in 2005 and 2007, being considered by many as one of the high points of the films that received quite a few negative reviews. Although not as many as the 2015 version, where we saw another version of the character. On that occasion, it was Michael B. Jordan who stepped into the shoes of The Human Torch, in a film that was destroyed by both critics and fans, even when its cast included names like Jordan himself, Kate Mara, Miles Teller, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell as the iconic Doctor Doom.

Eventually, Evans and Jordan left that role behind and joined the MCU as none other than Captain America and Erik Killmonger. Joseph Quinn will begin his journey as already part of this successful saga, which is an advantage, but also brings great pressure and responsibility.

The Fantastic Four is set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
