Finn Jones talks about a possible return as Danny Rand in the Marvel Cinematic Universe years after the end of Netflix’s Iron Fist. It is no secret that Jones’ Iron Fist was the most controversial of The Defenders Saga series. The character struggled with repetitive lines and poor fight choreography. However, by the end of his tenure as Iron Fist, Jones showed improvement as the character, with all the Netflix series getting canceled just as he was finding his footing. Perhaps now might be the time to return and give fans the best Iron Fist yet.

Speaking to The Nerd Shepherd (via @MCUFilmNews/Twitter), Iron Fist star Finn Jones revealed that he is open to returning to the MCU. According to the actor, he believes he is now at a good place professionally to return to Danny Rand and grow alongside the Marvel hero. Jones has teased an Iron Fist return in recent months, though nothing has been announced so far. There are a few MCU projects on the way that could include Iron Fist. “I think there’s a lot of room for growth with that character that I’ve always liked to see, and I think I’m in a place professionally where I would like to continue to grow with that character.”

After rewatching the most criticized of the Netflix Marvel shows, I am adamant that the MCU should bring back its lead character and the series’ star.

How Finn Jones’ Iron Fist Could Return To The MCU

A Solo Project Is Unlikely

Given how controversial Netflix’s Iron Fist was, it is unlikely that Jones will return to the MCU via a new solo project. If the actor were to come back as Danny Rand, then it most likely would be through a couple of supporting roles or cameos at first to test the waters. If fans were to react positively to his new phase as Danny Rand, then maybe a new Iron Fist series or movie could come along.

As it stands, Iron Fist could make his MCU return through a possible cameo in Daredevil: Born Again. The first season of the MCU series releases in March 2025, and based on the timing of Jones’ Iron Fist return tease, he could have shot something for the show. If that does not happen, the confirmed Daredevil: Born Again season 2 — which has yet to start filming — would then be the perfect place for Jones’ Iron Fist return.

With the Mayor Fisk storyline unfolding in Daredevil: Born Again season 1, there are rumors that a full-on battle between Kingpin and the street-level MCU heroes could happen in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4. If that is true, then Jones’ Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage could all return to the MCU in the movie. The actor could also play Danny Rand again in one of the next two Avengers movies, as both will feature expansive casts. Six years after the end of Netflix’s Iron Fist, Finn Jones’s Danny Rand return has a few possibilities.
