spin-off, but he hasn’t been asked yet.

Could fans of Dunder Mifflin’s most prolific prankster actually see Jim Halpert on the small screen once again? Well, John Krasinski would “do anything for Greg Daniels.” So, if the brains behind the development of the American version of The Office asked Krasinski to appear on the highly anticipated spin-off, the actor definitely would. Krasinski made the revelation while attending the “purple” carpet New York City premiere of the writer/director’s film IF. When asked if he might make an appearance on the spin-off, Krasinski told Entertainment Tonight:

“As of now, I haven’t been asked.
But the truth is I’d do anything for Greg Daniels.
Sounds like they have a really fun idea.
I’m actually working with Domhnall Gleeson right now on Guy Ritchie’s movie,
and he’s so good.
And he’s so sweet. He’s going to crush [it] in the show.”

Krasinski portrayed the character of the lovable Jim Halpert for all nine seasons of The Office. Afterward, the actor launched the successful horror franchise A Quiet Place with the arrival of the seminal film in 2018: Krasinski starred in, directed and wrote the runaway hit. While talking to ET on the “purple carpet,” Rachel Smith said the filmmaker was capable of conquering any genre. Krasinski responded by saying:

Well, I don’t know about that […] No, we’ll do something. I’ll screw it up somewhere [laughs].

John Krasinski Likens IF’s Release to ‘Waiting for Santa’ on Christmas Eve

Whether it was Jim (Krasinski) constantly pranking Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson), or the indelible love story between Jim and Pam (Jenna Fischer), there are so many unforgettable memories of Krasinski’s character from The Office for fans to fondly remember. Today, though, the former employee of the Scranton branch is focused on his behind-the-scenes work as the writer and director of the new live-action, animated adventure, IF. And Krasinski compared the movie’s release to that of Christmas Eve in the same interview with ET:

“Yes, you never are not nervous
on red carpets, purple carpets… purple carpets. No, you have to be.
Yeah, you work hard on something for this long
with all these people. And you go,
‘Man, I can’t wait for it to get out in the world.’
You know, like Christmas Eve:
You’re waiting for Santa.”

As one of the best shows of all time, The Office includes some truly hilarious episodes. Here are the funniest.

Recently, one of the co-creators of The Office (UK), Stephen Merchant, addressed the upcoming spin-off, which will exist in the same universe as Michael Scott’s (Steve Carell) Dunder Mifflin paper company branch in Scranton. Merchant seems excited about the prospect of the new show, but he doesn’t know all that much about it. Merchant said in an interview with Deadline:

“I don’t know anything more than you guys.
I genuinely don’t […] They just make us sign bits of paperwork to say they can do it, and
I’m looking forward to it.
And I like the exciting world of…
I like the idea that it’s within the universe of The Office,
but not necessarily in the same office. I just hope they represent what office life must be like now.
I guess the whole show will just be on Zoom, and people only come in like twice a week.”

Whether Krasinski’s Jim Halpert actually shows up on this new version of The Office remains to be seen. And, at the time of this writing, an official release date for the spin-off hasn’t been announced yet.

All nine seasons of
The Office
are currently available to stream or binge-watch on
