How Henry Cavill Became a Real Superhero After Saving the Life of Costar on His New Movie

Henry Cavill proved to be a real-life Superman when he saved costar Alex Pettyfer from potentially drowning while filming new movie The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Despite the film being a huge leap from Cavill’s time as the Man of Steel, Pettyfer was full of praise of the actor during a recent interview with ETOnline ahead of the movie’s release in cinemas.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, the latest movie from The Gentlemen’s Guy Ritchie, delves into the story of Britain’s first special forces team during World War II. Based on Damien Lewis’s book of the same name, the film boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Cavill, Pettyfer, Alan Ritchson, Eiza Gonzáles, Cary Elwes, and Henry Golding, who come together under the direction of Ritchie for his latest theatrical offering.

During press interviews, Pettyfer showed Cavill with praise for his work ethic and “humbleness” on set, as well as for actually saving his life. He told ET:

“Henry has a way about him where it’s about the quality and about coming together and there is no hierarchy. He brings a humbleness to the set with everyone.

“[To Cavill] It was an amazing honor, by the way, to be on this film with you because it’s a learning curve to see how a number one treats everyone in the cast and crew. I got an email two weeks before I started filming from this man saying, ‘I’m excited to collaborate with you.’

“He saved me from falling off a boat. I nearly drowned! So I can officially say I’ve been saved by Henry. And I’m very grateful to be on this film with you.”

Henry Cavill’s Popularity Has Not Always Been Able to Save His Movies

No matter what role he plays, who he works with, or what he does outside of his acting career, Henry Cavill’s fan base just continues to grow and show love for the star. Having embodied the popular roles of Clark Kent in the DCEU, Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, and even Sherlock Holmes in Netflix’s Enola Holmes movies, Cavill is never too far away from his next big role.

However, despite his global fame, not all of Cavill’s films have been successful. Argylle, Cavill’s recent all-star project from Matthew Vaughn, was a disappointment at the box office, and proved to be hugely divisive among both audiences and critics. As The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare approaches its release, the movie comes with a very different tone to Argylle, and could find Cavill back on the good side of reviewers and the box office.
