  • Despite initial criticism,
    Hidden Figures
was a critical and commercial success, receiving multiple award nominations and high praise.

The Oscar-nominated historical drama Hidden Figures recently received some criticism from star Glen Powell, who played real-life astronaut John Glenn, but it seems that someone who doesn’t agree with the actor’s comments is editor Peter Teschner. Last month, Powell spoke about his reaction to seeing a rough cut of the film, which he said caused him to throw up due to his performance in what was a bare-bones presentation of the film without any special effects or music. However, the film’s editor, Peter Teschner, doesn’t recall seeing a rough cut with missing music and believes Powell might not be remembering the screenings as accurately as they happened.

This all began after Powell appeared on the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast. During his discussion, he revealed that he watched the movie before music or special effects were added during a preview screening, and he believed that he had ruined the film. Following the screening, Powell said he was so convinced his performance was terrible that he threw up in the bushes of the 20th Century Fox lot after watching the cut.

However, during a chat with TMZ, the film’s editor, Teschner, revealed that, to his knowledge, there were no screenings that had missing music and that every screening also had original songs by Pharrell Williams and a temp score. Teschner believes it’s very possible that Powell overreacted regarding his performance in the film. In fact, the editor claims that the actor’s scenes in the rough cut weren’t changed much for the film’s final cut, and he feels that Powell delivered a solid performance.
