Henry Cavill Would Make the Perfect James Bond, Says His Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare Co-star

  • Eiza González believes Henry Cavill would make the ideal James Bond.
  • Aaron Taylor-Johnson may now be the frontrunner for the new 007 and has reportedly been offered the role.
  • While Cavill may not be the next Bond, he will star in
    The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare
, which González likens to a James Bond adventure.

As rumors of who will be the next James Bond continue to circulate, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare star Eiza González believes there is only one right choice: her co-star Henry Cavill. Speaking with EW, González is rooting for Cavill to become the new 007 following the departure of Daniel Craig and says it’s hard not to look at the Man of Steel star and just see the iconic spy.

“It’s hard not to look at Henry Cavill and think of James Bond, to be really honest. Obviously, I’m part of the group of people that are rooting for him to get it hopefully, if that was a possibility.”

Henry Cavill has been a favorite for the role of James Bond for some time, with the actor coming close to winning the role for the reboot, Casino Royale, back in 2006. No doubt many will agree with González’s feeling about Cavill and the role of Bond, but at present it’s looking like he will lose the part to Kick-Ass and Bullet Train star Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

The most recent reports regarding the next 007 claim that Taylor-Johnson has now been offered the role, with the actor also now having the blessing of not one, but two former James Bond actors in Pierce Brosnan and George Lazenby.

“Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back,” the mysterious sources claim. “As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”

Could The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare Be Henry Cavill’s James Bond?

While he may not be the next James Bond, Cavill will next star as a secret agent of sorts in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Continuing, González likened the Guy Ritchie action flick to a 007 adventure, saying it was “really not so hard” to imagine they were filming a Bond movie.

“You’re on a set staring at Henry Cavill, and you have Ian Fleming [played by Freddie Fox] sitting there in that opening scene that we have. There’s nothing cooler when you’re watching a movie and worlds collide, like you see Ian Fleming there and seeing him part of a mission, how that really transformed into what we know now as James Bond, and what came out of it, and him becoming a writer. I love that about the film.”

How Henry Cavill Became a Real Superhero After Saving the Life of Costar on His New Movie

Henry Cavill was praised by The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare costar Alex Pettyfer for saving his life during filming.

Directed and co-written by Guy Ritchie, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare stars a large ensemble cast that includes Henry Cavill, Eiza González, Alan Ritchson, Henry Golding, Alex Pettyfer, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Til Schweiger, Cary Elwes, and Freddie Fox. You can check out the official synopsis for The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare below.

“Based upon recently declassified files of the British War Department and inspired by true events, THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE is an action-comedy that tells the story of the first-ever special forces organization formed during WWII by UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill and a small group of military officials including author Ian Fleming. The top-secret combat unit, composed of a motley crew of rogues and mavericks, goes on a daring mission against the Nazis using entirely unconventional and utterly “ungentlemanly” fighting techniques. Ultimately their audacious approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for the British SAS and modern Black Ops warfare.”

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare
is scheduled to be released on April 19, 2024.
