May the Fourth Be with You! Star Wars Day is here, and fans of that galaxy far, far away were treated this morning to the final trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series, The Acolyte. The mystery of a murdered Jedi is further explored as more of the characters are fleshed out in the new footage. And there’s even a glimpse at what appears to be a Sith warrior wielding a red lightsaber in a cool helmet near the very end. And while the Star Wars showrunner Leslye Headland isn’t giving away any spoilers, and did not confirm if the character is, in fact, a Sith lord, she’s quick to point out how she feels about the mysterious figure. Headland told StarWars.com:

“I’ll just say that they’re my favorite character.
I hope audiences embrace the duality that exists in every character in the show.
The show is an onion.
Each episode peels away to reveal something else.
I hope the experience of watching it is both suspenseful and satisfying.”

So far, The Acolyte’s final trailer has amassed over 553,000 views on YouTube in just four hours. And for the fans, they’re convinced, as Jedi Master Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson) was at the conclusion of Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace, that the mysterious warrior is a Sith. @Nacho2003YT writes in the video’s comments:

That Sith’s helmet looks sick, simulating rows of teeth.

@RiksGamingChannel adds:

‘The Jedi justify their galactic dominance in the name of peace, but that peace is a lie.’ Ooooooooh, I like that little nod to the Sith Code.

‘Last Night, A Jedi Was Murdered’ in The Acolyte

There have been plenty of juicy morsels revealed about The Alcolyte series so far, including the fact that Force users must have balance in order to be protected by the powerful energy field. But the final trailer really ups the ante as a mysterious figure wielding a red lightsaber goes up against an entire group of Jedi! Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) stares down the supposed Sith and says, “What are you?” And the fans are reacting accordingly to the footage, which was dropped as a part of Star Wars Day 2024. @torreyanderson6833 writes:

The creepy Sith helmet reminds me of something you’d see in an anime. I appreciate the menacing aesthetic they’re going for here.

@dtoonergames7450 adds:

BROOO that dark side user’s design looks SO COOL.

The Acolyte’s Dafne Keen Reveals Desire to ‘Top the Darth Maul Fight’ from Star Wars: Episode I

Dafne Keen and the team behind the upcoming Disney+ series “want to top the Darth Maul fight” from The Phantom Menace.

The Acolyte is set approximately 100 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace. And while star Dafne Keen commends Leslye Headland’s “broad understanding of Star Wars, another YouTuber points out a possible flaw in the storytelling aspect of the upcoming Disney+ series. @DarthMunchkin writes:

“I’m just confused
that if this takes place 100 years before Phantom Menace,
why would the Jedi doubt that a Sith would be around?
In PM,
they made it seem like a Sith hadn’t been seen for multiple generations, maybe 1,000 years.
100 years would be like me not believing WWII happened even though my grandpa fought in it.
I’m hoping this show is good, but the timeline isn’t making sense from the creator.”

Another YouTuber was also concerned. @PhillipeStLeger says:

“The only thing I’m curious about
is, in The Phantom Menace,
the Jedi council seemed skeptical to believe that the Sith had returned,
so how
could they be so clueless if we’re seeing a Sith appear in this series before The Phantom Menace?”

The two-episode premiere of
The Acolyte
drops Tuesday, June 4 on
Disney+.
