If there’s one thing Netflix is known for, it’s the plethora of original television shows. Over the years, the streaming service has provided quality series audiences have consumed in a quick binge-watch. Seeing as Netflix is the only platform that consistently releases a show’s episodes all at once, fans of a particular series don’t have to wait a week for a new outing. Thankfully, it appears the month of April is no different for Netflix regarding its top-notch, binge-worthy shows, and as such, subscribers won’t have to wait to watch them all.



Although there’s only one family-friendly series in the mix next month, the other options will certainly entertain most adults. From psychological thrillers to comedic dramas and a new series linked to the universe of The Sandman, Netflix subscribers are in for a real treat when the platform releases its April offering. While each series covers a different genre, they each provide a bingeable option for viewers to devour upon their respective premieres.



Ripley (Limited Series)

Ripley is a psychological thriller based on the 1955 crime novel The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith. The show follows Tom Ripley (Andrew Scott), a grifter in 1960s New York who was hired by a wealthy man for a unique job. Tasked with convincing the man’s son, Dickie Greenleaf (Johnny Flynn), to return home from Italy, Tom is immediately drawn to such a seemingly privileged lifestyle. As such, the moment Tom is introduced to Dickie’s world of luxury and leisure, a tangled web of lies and deceit begins to emerge. The show also stars Dakota Fanning as Marge Sherwood, who never falls for Tom’s tricks as those around her seem to do. Ripley is streaming on Netflix on Apr. 4.

The Upshaws (Part 5)

The Upshaws is a sitcom centered around a working-class African American family in Indiana who deal with all of life’s ups and downs while struggling to make it work. Starring Wanda Sykes as Lucretia, Kim Fields as Regina, and Mike Epps as Bennie, the series is a lighthearted, broad comedy that seeks to deliver plenty of laughs even when it decides to tackle more emotional issues.

Dead Boy Detectives is a supernatural comedic drama about two dead teenagers, Edwin (George Rexstrew) and Charles (Jayden Revri), who skirted the afterlife in order to stay behind on Earth and solve mysteries. They work alongside a clairvoyant, Crystal (Kassius Nelson), for their clientele until a witch throws a wrench in their plans.


Based on characters who were first introduced in the “Season of Mists” storyline in the comic Sandman #25, Edwin and Charles spend their time solving whatever supernatural crimes cross their path whenever the pair aren’t evading Death. While the series is reported to take place in the same universe as Netflix’s The Sandman, it’s still unclear whether the narratives will overlap as the new series develops. Dead Boy Detectives will stream on Netflix on Apr. 25.
