Every Movie Coming to Shudder in July 2024

For audiences who enjoy just about any type of horror film, Shudder is by far the best streaming service for them. Every month, the platform offers plenty of new options to its subscribers and rarely disappoints them. Thankfully, the films set to arrive in the coming weeks are undoubtedly worth watching for those who love scary movies outside the confines of Halloween.

The Shining

Based on the classic Stephen King novel of the same name and directed by Stanley Kubrick, The Shining is a psychological horror film about a man named Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson), an aspiring author and recovering alcoholic. In an effort to complete his book, he travels to Colorado’s isolated Overlook Hotel for the winter with his wife, Wendy (Shelley Duvall), and his son, Danny (Danny Lloyd).

However, their secluded getaway quickly turns into something much more terrifying than they could have imagined. Upon their arrival, Danny’s psychic abilities begin to reveal horrific forebodings from the past as well as the future. Meanwhile, a sinister force slowly influences Jack as he eventually devolves into extremely violent behavior. Now trapped with nowhere to run, Wendy and Danny do their best to avoid Jack’s frightening actions. The Shining is streaming on Shudder on July 1.

Arcadian is a post-apocalyptic action horror film that follows Paul (Nicolas Cage), a father who lives with his teenage sons, Thomas (Maxwell Jenkins) and Joseph (Jaeden Martell), in a remote farmhouse far from the rest of what’s left of civilization. Set in the not-so-distant future, the world is decimated. Ravaged by terrifying creatures who come out at night, Paul and his sons manage to live a relatively tranquil life during the day before utter torment befalls them after it’s dark.

When Thomas fails to return home before the sun sets one day, Paul leaves their fortified home, hoping to find him before the ferocious creatures arrive. He locates his son but is gravely wounded in the process. As a result, the teens must figure out how to survive the night by using everything their father has taught them in order to survive. Arcadian is streaming on Shudder on July 12.
