Diego Luna Promises Rogue One Cameos In Andor Season 2 & A “Different Perspective” On Disney’s Best Star Wars Movie

Andor actor Diego Luna teases more Rogue One: A Star Wars Story cameos in season 2 of the critically acclaimed Disney+ series, along with how it’ll change the perspective of the 2016 Star Wars film. Season 1 primarily focused on Cassian Andor’s journey to the Rebel Alliance and a cast of new characters.

While speaking at ACE Superhero Comic Con 2024 (via Popverse), Luna shared that Andor‘s highly-anticipated second and final season will feature more familiar faces from Rogue One as it seamlessly transitions into the film’s story. He also praised the series’ showrunner and writer Tony Gilroy. Read Luna’s comments below:

I can tell you, Rogue One is coming, so there will be characters there that you will recognize. There will be cool stuff. For those who love Rogue One, this season is going to be very special. And it’s going to be fascinating to go straight to Rogue One after watching this second season, because you will see Rogue One from a different perspective. I promise you that.

It’s fantastic. The only thing I can tell you is what happens at the end. It’s the world upside down. That’s the only thing you don’t talk about in an interview, but here we all know what the end is. I can tell you one thing, Tony Gilroy is a fantastic writer, and he created amazing characters that we got to meet in Andor season one. It’s going to be a very rich second season, because all those stories matter today. It is a true ensemble piece. It got very complicated in season one, and everything has to get resolved. Every story matters.

Diego Luna stars as Cassian Andor in Andor, a Disney+ exclusive series set five years before Rogue One. The series follows the titular character as he transitions from a humble thief to a revolutionary icon of the rebellion against the empire. Cassian, a man who tries to keep himself out of confrontations post the destruction of his world, is shoved into the central conflict as he naturally slots into the role of leader. Andor will explore the rebellion’s burgeoning days and highlight pivotal events in the Star Wars Franchise before the construction of the Death Star.
