Deadpool & Wolverine Is ‘The Most Deadpool Movie In The History Of Deadpool,’ Says Ryan Reynolds

Summary

  • Deadpool & Wolverine
is set to be the most “Deadpoolian” film yet, with Ryan Reynolds promising to deliver the iconic character’s signature tone and humor.
  • Fans can expect the first R-rated movie in the MCU with
    Deadpool & Wolverine
, marking a new direction for Marvel Studios under Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox.
  • Ryan Reynolds expresses genuine love for Hugh Jackman, promising a unique dynamic between the two iconic characters in the eagerly-anticipated film.

While Deadpool and Deapool 2 were uniquely “Deadpoolian”, according to Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool & Wolverine is the most Deadpool of all the Deadpools. The hotly-anticipated movie is nearing its release date (July 26), and will see the iconic X-Men characters venture into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time. While many are excited to see the unexpected return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine (following the character’s demise at the end of 2017’s Logan), Ryan Reynolds still promises that the film will fit the Deadpool brand – if the several NSFW references in the first trailer didn’t give it away.

Reynolds recently spoke to Empire Magazine about the project, and delivered a short, sweet, and impactful statement about the film’s tone.

“It feels like the most Deadpool movie in the history of Deadpool.”

While the statement doesn’t give many details (0 details to be exact), fans of Reynold’s previous outings as Wade Wilson will know exactly what he means. Deadpool & Wolverine will mark the first time the MCU dives into the world of R-Rated movies, and Deadpool is the perfect character to kick-start that venture with. Deadpool quickly became a fan favorite character among comic readers, thanks to his signature wit, blatant disregard for rules, and ability to break the 4th wall. Just like Wolverine has become synonymous with Hugh Jackman, following his very first appearance X-Men (2000), many fans believe that Deadpool is a role Ryan Reynolds was born to play.

is f*cking awesome! And the reason I can say that … is that it’s an R-rated movie.”

Ryan Reynolds Loved Making Deadpool & Wolverine

During his chat with Empire, Ryan Reynolds also declared his unabashed love for Hugh Jackman. The pair first met on X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009. Since then, their friendship has dominated social media, with fans being desperate to see the pair work together again, albeit on a much better film. Even in declaring his love, Reynolds’ answer was unabashedly Deadpoolian, saying:

“As much as I take the ever-loving f*cking piss out of him each and every day, underneath that is a genuine love story. As adversarial as we are in the movie, the undercurrent is one of real love. Getting to spend time with my two closest friends [Hugh Jackman & Shawn Levy], and waking up in the morning with a passionate devotion to say something so horrendous that they fall over laughing is a gift.”

Deadpool & Wolverine will bring the iconic pair to the MCU through the Time Variance Authority (TVA), which first appeared in Loki Season 1. While exact details haven’t been revealed, it will likely have something to do with Deadpool’s time jumping antics at the end of Deadpool 2. The version of Wolverine in the film is also a variant of the one Jackman played for well over a decade in 20th Century Fox’s universe.
