Guardians of the Galaxy and Dune 2 star Dave Bautista takes the lead in the first trailer for new action-comedyThe Killer’s Game, which finds the former wrestler starring as an assassin who finds himself the target after putting a hit out on himself. Alongside a killer pitch, The Killer’s Game has plenty to offer action movie fans, with the cavalcade of assassins including several familiar faces from MCU and the world of John Wick.

“In the new action-comedy The Killer’s Game, when top hitman Joe Flood (Dave Bautista) is diagnosed with a terminal illness, he decides to take matters into his own hands – by taking a hit out on himself. But when the very hitmen he hired also target his ex-girlfriend (Sofia Boutella), he must fend off an army of assassin colleagues and win back the love of his life before it’s too late.”

Directed by J. J. Perry, who recently brought all manner of vampire-hunting action to Netflix with Day Shift, and written by Rand Ravich and James Coyne, The Killer’s Game is based on the 1997 novel of the same name by Jay Bonansinga.



The Killer’s Game Is Due to Hit Theaters in September

The cast set to star alongside Dave Bautista in The Killer’s Game is sure to have action movie fans excited, with the former Marvel star set to do battle with the likes of his fellow Guardians of the Galaxy actor Pom Klementieff, The Expendables’ Terry Crews, renowned actor Ben Kingsley, John Wick: Chapter 4 stars Scott Adkins and Marko Zaror, and martial artist Daniel Bernhardt, who has featured in the likes of Nobody, Extraction 2, and the Bloodsport franchise.

Now that he has left the MCU behind, The Killer’s Game is just one of several major projects in the pipeline for Dave Bautista. The actor and action star will reunite with director J.J. Perry for the post-apocalyptic sci-fi outing Afterburn, with Bautista leading as an ex-soldier-turned treasure hunter, who is sent to find one of the world’s last remaining treasures, the Mona Lisa, after Earth is ravaged by a solar flare.
