  • Miller’s departure raises questions about their future career.

Ezra Miller has been replaced as the voice of D.A. Sinclair in the second season of the animated series Invincible. Although there was no official announcement of the replacement, it seems that Looney Tunes, TMNT and X-Men ’97 star Eric Bauza has taken over the role formerly voiced by The Flash star in the most recent Season 2 episode.

Amazon Studios, Image Comics, Point Grey Pictures

Miller played the mad scientist in the first season, and although the character was defeated, he made a return in a nightmare sequence in the episode entitled “I’m Not Going Anywhere.” There has been no reason given for Miller’s departure from the series, but the actor has struggled to find roles since their public behavioral problems back in 2022.

Miller’s departure from the role without a formal announcement suggests a strategic decision amid the actor’s recent controversies, which continued to overshadow their on-screen work. Although they still appeared in the lead role of The Flash, there were some suggestions that the film’s failure at the box office was partly down to the public’s perceptions of Miller’s frequent brushes with the law, and erratic behavior.

Invincible Continues Its Successful Run

Invincible continues to soar with its second season and expanding cast of characters. Away from the family-friendly superhero stories of the MCU, the Robert Kirkman-created series boasts a returning voice cast that includes Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, and Sandra Oh, among others. The addition of new stars such as Rhea Seehorn, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and now Bauza, only pushes the series to new heights.

As with many popular animated projects, talk has already turned to the series potentially pivoting to a live-action remake in the future. Several stars of the series have had their say on the matter, including The Walking Dead’s Steven Yeun, who said:

“Yeah, we’ll see. I love working with Robert. That comic is so great, and it goes so long and so deep. So, I’m excited to see that play itself out. Right now, we’re having a lot of fun making this show. Live action — who knows?”

Of course, Yeun played an integral part of bringing Kirkman’s The Walking Dead to screens back in 2012, and his role of Glenn was one of the most popular in the early seasons of the franchise right up to his death at the beginning of Season 7 at the hands of Negan.

10 Biggest Differences Between the Invincible Series and the Comics

Invincible’s comics and animated series offer two different versions of events.

Another star who has addressed the potential for a live-action iteration of Invincible is J.K. Simmons, the voice of Omniman in the series. Simmons recently shared who he thinks could play his character in a live-action series, noting that it certainly wouldn’t be him. He said:

“Well, we’ve seen how jacked I could get 8 or 9 years ago, and since I have not dipped into the marvel of modern medical science in efforts to get jacked, I just eat protein and lift weights, I don’t think a 70-year-old Omni-Man is what I would want to see in the movie. I’m not going to lie, you’re not the first person to ask this question, and the first time I kind of fumbled around for a minute, and then I thought ‘Oh, Hugh Jackman.’

Whatever happens with the franchise in the future, it looks like Miller’s time with Invincible has come to a very quiet end. Although their character was not actually expected to make a reappearance, it seems that they will not be back for any future appearances of D.A. Sinclair that could happen further down the line.
