Blade Star Mia Goth Offers Some Insight (And Some Much-Needed Positivity) on the MCU Reboot

Summary

  • Blade’s
MCU debut is experiencing significant production challenges, causing uncertainty about its release date.
  • The team behind
    Blade
is dedicated to making a great movie, providing hope for its eventual success.
  • Mia Goth’s role in the
    Blade
reboot has been rumored to be the villain Lilith, adding anticipation to the project.

The vampire hunter Blade’s forthcoming MCU debut stands as the hardest time the Universe has ever had assembling a movie. Somehow. From director departures to rewrites, Blade almost seems to be a doomed production. But when details aren’t provided, that’s when rumors swirl. And, now that Mia Goth is busy promoting Ti West’s trilogy-capper MaXXXine, she’s shed some light on what’s happening with Blade and the character’s long-awaited introduction to the Marvel franchise.

Goth had a few words for Deadline at MaXXXine‘s premier. And, while they’re not extensive, they are at least encouraging.

[The individuals behind-the-scenes] really care, they do. They want to make a great movie. That’s the sense that I get from them and that feels good.

The movie is still scheduled for a November 2025 release, but it’s up in the air if that will come to fruition. But, whether it’s 2025 or 2026, what’s truly important is that there’s a vision guiding it that all involved can get behind. And, according to Goth, this is exactly what everyone behind Blade is striving for.

Who Will Goth Play in the MCU’s Blade Reboot?

One of the details about the film that has not yet been confirmed in any official capacity, but has been highly speculated upon, is Goth’s role in the Blade reboot. Given that it’s still being reworked, there are no guarantees as to what Marvel character she will play, but word of mouth and the hottest rumors currently circulating seem to indicate she’ll be playing the villain, Lilith.

Lilith’s goal is to extract the blood from Blade’s daughter and utilize it for her own nefarious purposes. But, will she end up hitting the screen alongside Mahershala Ali’s Daywalker? Goth certainly seems to think so. When asked by ET whether she’s confident Blade will survive its production difficulties, she said:

Yeah, I am. Very much so.
