The A1(M) motorway in South Yorkshire was closed going southbound following a lorry crash with an Air Ambulance rushed to the scene.
National Highways said in an update: “The A1M in South Yorkshire is closed southbound between J35 (M18) and J34 (Blyth) due to a collision involving a lorry which has left the carriageway and come to rest in a ditch.
“All emergency services including an Air Ambulance and National Highway Traffic Officers are at the scene.”
The authority warned that motorists should ” re-route or even delay” their journeys.
Traffic conditions were not expected to return to normal for more than an hour, according to the service.
